Ask Me Why I’m Excited!

by Rich Single Momma on April 17, 2009

dollartree1Ok, ok, I’ll tell you why. Today during lunch I went to visit one of my favorite places, Wal-mart (don’t hate). I can get everything in one shot and I love it, but I digress.

So I on the way to Walmart I see a sign in a new shopping center that’s been trying to lease out the space. And the sign says, DOLLAR TREE!!!! I just love that store. Almost more than Walmart, but if they start selling produce I just might like it more.

What More Could a Single Mom Ask For?

dollar-treeNow this might now be exciting news to you but to me it’s like winning the lottery. I mean where else can you go and get everything for $1? Sure some things may be over priced but the psychological factor plays a big part in all this.

I could search high and low at Wal-mart or I could just set a pre-determined amount in my mind and only spend that much. I know what I’m getting and how much it will cost without whipping out the calulator. Yes, I know, it’s sad but I had to share.

Kid’s Gone Wild

This is the only place where I can give in to my kid’s demands for worthless toys. Want a ball? Sure, you can have it. Want an entire bag of candy or popcorn? Of course! Go right ahead. And since my pre-teen daughter is getting into all the girly stuff like body wash and lotions, I can buy both of us what we need. Of course I’ll buy a higher quality generic brand at Walmart later, but don’t tell her….shhhhhh! It’s our secret.

Upscale Reality

Another reason I’m so excited is because there wasn’t a Dollar Tree or any other type of dollar store in my neighborhood. I think I know why and they might have kept it out because they are trying to keep the area pretty upscale, but even wealthy people need a cheap fix every now and then, hehehe.

So I can’t wait for the grand opening. I will try to take pics to share but if I forget because I am consumed with buying cheap stuff please forgive me.

I love the dollar tree store. I wish they had them in NY but dont think they can afford the rent. The dollar stores here are crap and arent half as nice as the 99Cent stores in the burbs.

They perform a service in that you can satisfy your kids need to have more stuff while they are young and they dont care about name brand stuff yet.

keep saving and shopping.

like your site BTW

I love Walmart too. I know a lot of people hate it but I love being able to get EVERYTHING in one place.

Props to you for loving Wally and being proud!!!!

I like going to Walmart too! Getting nice items at a reasonable price! It’s where I usually shop for my kids stuff too! :)

@Nishee – Isn’t it the best! Right now there are so many deep discounts on clothes. A couple weeks ago I got three pair of jeans for my rough son for only $10. Can’t beat that with a stick, lol! Just got a couple of sweaters for me for $3 each. They still come in handy for these chilly mornings and for next year.

@lulugal – I cannont deny my attraction to Wally World, hehe. That would be like denying my existence right? So many are ashamed but it’s good to my bank account (if I don’t over spend) so I’ll continue to sing it’s praises. At least until the Dollar Tree opens (shhhhhh) ;-)

@linda – I noticed there were no “real” dollar stores in NY. That’s too bad because the have great stuff. It’s easy to make theme gift baskets out of their stuff and it doesn’t look cheap (well mostly). Glad you like the site.

Wow, and to think that I thought I was the only one who got all willy nilly about Wal-Mart. (((All smiles)))
