From a Woman Who Knows
Five years ago I was broke, behind in my bills, and recovering from an abusive relationship. I was a tired, unwed single mother with two small children, confused about my purpose in the world, and wanting a man.
I was also miserable, angry at the world and myself, and ready to give up. I had hit rock bottom (in my estimation) and could go nowhere but up.
Today I am well-paid, up to date on most of my bills, and enjoying a healthy long-term relationship. I am content, full of peace, and optimistic about my current life and future.

- How did I go from misery to mastery?
- How did I go from down and out to successful?
- How did I go from barely surviving to absolutely thriving?
That is the purpose of this letter and I want to share the secrets of my success with you!
Society and the media portray single mothers as miserable losers. We are not supposed to be happy and successful. We are painted on the world canvas as a bunch of lazy, welfare getting, freeloading, angry with our baby’s daddy other woman. But I am here to tell you that it doesn’t have to be that way. You have the power to change your destiny!
Success for a single mom is not an overnight thing, a get rich quick scheme, or an easy-does-it dream. Getting where I am today happened over time; it took hard work, personal sacrifice, and a realistic, yet optimistic look at my circumstances.
All of my life I dreamed of how I wanted my life to be. I had a vision of success that included: being a corporate executive, driving a nice car, having a wonderful husband, a nice, comfortable-sized house, and a couple of children.
I didn’t necessarily want to be rich, but I wanted to be comfortable. Soon my dreams turned into fantasies and I got off track. I bought into the media hype of success, and became disillusioned when my life didn’t turn out like the people on TV, in magazines, and romance novels. Though my view of life became distorted, I knew I wanted to be successful.
I learn not to define success as having a lot of money, fine cars, big houses; all the typical media hype. I formed my own definition of success as reaching certain personal goals and being happy with myself. Having peace and having a life has since become my definition of success.
MY LIFE CHANGED
One day I decided that I would have the life of my dreams. I took definite steps to complete my education, get a job that paid enough to support my two children, and me and eventually wake up to the love that I had all along. I have had many ups and downs since that day, but each choice has been a lesson learned which took me a step closer to my goals.
Since taking those steps and following the techniques I am going to show you, life has been good. Looking back over my life it seems that I’ve had one struggle after another (mostly of my own doing), but I always seem to bounce back. My friends say that I have a lot of guts because I will take risks above and beyond what she or anyone else she knows will take. I took a lot of chances in life. Some were good and others were complete failures.
I don’t know why or how I came to take so many chances in life, but I remember telling myself that I would not be afraid to do things. I could never know what life held if I didn’t take a chance and try some things. I remember hearing the term; expand your horizons; I literally saw the horizon in my mind’s eye and decided that I would begin to walk toward it.
I loved adventure and even though I wasn’t the loudest, most outgoing person around, I still made a big splash with all my risk-taking antics. Taking chances has many benefits and rewards. From career, to education, to love; bold steps had to be taken to get what I wanted. I don’t believe that I would be where I am today if I hadn’t taken chances. I now have a house, a new car, beautiful children, a good paying job, and a wonderful man.
If I hadn’t taken a chance on life and on myself I wouldn’t have any of these blessings. Looking back, I see that my life has been full. I visualized what I wanted for my life and I went for it. I didn’t let anyone hold me back, though many people tried. I was determined and stubborn in my quest for a full life.
I have enjoyed the journey to where I am, but I am not done yet. So much more is to come and in reality, the journey has just begun. The tough times in your life may not have been like mine, but the outcome can be just as sweet!
