Brookstone: The Unofficial Single Mom Relaxation Center
The other day I had the opportunity to attend a private tour review of the Brookstone store at Lenox Mall in Atlanta, GA.
Jennifer, James, Kinzel, and Jared were our gracious host. Jennifer started out telling us about the light and sleep machines that promote happiness, well-being, and excellent sleep.
One of the machines emits a special UV light that is excellent for people who suffer from SAD or Seasonal Affective Disorder. If you live in the far northern part of the hemisphere like Alaska, Seattle or Canada. You are more likely to get it this disorder. It’s a type of depressive state because of not enough sun. It happens mostly in the winter because the days are shorter and there is less sunshine.
After the demonstration we moved to the front of the store to the Massage Center. We were was interrupted though, because of the flying gadget we saw hovering in front of the store. It was like something out of a spy movie. Ironically, it is called the Spy Rover. Someone said it looked like the planes in the movie Avatar. You can see by the picture to your right and in the video below.
We watched the enthusiastic sales guy flying the plane using an iPad (can also be used with an iPhone and iPod Touch. The rover has a camera on it so it could be used for spying. Probably why it’s called a Spy Rover, huh?
You can see in the movie clip below that it really does hover. It has 150 foot range, and it runs on rechargeable battery packs. It’s quite noisy so it would not be useful for spying on your kids. They told us it can be used outside but it doesn’t perform as well. It is one of the best-selling items for grown men.
We finally moved onto the Massage Center. There were several massage chairs and portable massagers that a person could just plug in and use while watching TV or relaxing. There was a mega massage chair on sale like the ones you see at the mall and had to put coins in. It reclined and look much better than the ones the public uses. I didn’t try it out, but I did get to try the other massage chair. I got a personal massage our host Jared. He used a heavy-duty Shiatzu-type massager.
It was quite intense and not didn’t think I could handle it but he really didn’t give me a chance protest. I’m glad he didn’t because he was a miracle worker. It felt so good and the knot I had a my left shoulder was gone! That is why I call Brookstone the unofficial single mom relaxation store.
I roamed around a bit looking at other gadgets. I was truly in gadget heaven. The store is across between RadioShack and a spa all rolled up into one.I saw a few things that I will definitely be on my Christmas list. My absolute favorite is the Obol. You can see from the photo it is a bowl with a separator. It’s made for people like me who hate soggy cereal. You pour your milk in one side and the cereal in the other; after that you scoop the amount of cereal you want in the milk and eat. I say it’s genius!
There were comfy, super soft blankets, something call a bean that is a heated pillow, and so many other and go for your eggs. There will gadgets for i-products like speakers, clocks, and keyboards as well of cases. It was such a fun store to visit. They will probably see me again really soon for a little relaxing break!

Sounds like my kinda place! I have a few of those knots like you mentioned. maybe I can talk my mom and sister into taking a trip there; we live about two hours from there and my step dad is going through chemo treatments right now. My mom is taking great care of him, but I would love to do something for her. Thanks for the great idea!
