Home Atlanta Local Events Would You Eat in the Bathroom? Support Table for Two for Breastfeeding...

Before both of my children were born I made the decision to breastfeed them. I did the research and knew I had to give them the very best of me. Breastfeeding was the answer.

My daughter nursed for a year, while my son breastfed for seven months. It was rocky in the beginning, but soon enough we had a good routine. It wasn’t unusual for me to have to nurse in public. I found a way to make it as inconspicuous as possible, but my daughter would eventually let everyone know how much she was enjoying her meal. She was a rather loud eater…

During my breastfeeding experience I didn’t have to travel by plane or venture into too many public places. I preferred being home or did not have the funds at the time. But it is not uncommon for many breastfeeding moms to travel or be in public places. They have to feed their children whenever the need arises. We really can’t be expected to make babies wait until they get home before they can eat, can we?

However, for many breastfeeding moms, public officials are forcing them into unfair circumstances. They are asking nursing mothers to take their children into public bathrooms to feed them. How nasty is that? Why is this happening? It’s because most public places don’t make provision for breastfeeding moms to feed their babies and it’s become a public problem.

To address this issue, fellow mom blogger, Sojourner Grimmett is spearheading a campaign to get public places to provide nursing rooms for moms and their babies. Table for Two has been currently pressuring Hartsville International Airport in Atlanta to provide lactation rooms for moms instead of requesting they feed their babies in the public restroom.

I know I would be livid if I were asked to move to a bathroom while I was nursing my kids, so I fully support the Table for Two campaign. I hope you will help spread the word buy talking about it on Facebook, Twitter, and any other social media accounts you use.

Ask yourself this question, “Would I want to eat in the bathroom”? If you answered no, just think about how it would feel for a mom to be forced to feed her nursing baby in a bathroom.
