Home Single Motherhood Happy Birthday to Me!

Today is the day my mom gave birth to me and introduced me to the world. I am overjoyed at reaching this milestone in my life. How old am I? I am 18 years old with 22 years of experience, LOL! My best friend gave me a mug with that inscription. I think it’s fitting.

I’ve experience a lot in my life and I’m happy to say it’s only made me a stronger person. When you get older you have two choices 1. you can regret the things you didn’t do or 2. you can celebrate the things that are yet to be done. I am making choice number 2. My life is about to become one big celebration.

My 30s where a time of self-discovery, incredible joy and incredible pain. I could have given up and said it was too hard. I could have whined and complained and cried, “Woe is me!” I chose to fight my way through it and become a better person, learn from my mistakes, and dust myself off every time I fell (or failed).

I had to make the choice to live life to the fullest. That meant I made a few unhealthy choices, but I lived through it. I’ve lived in a cocoon forever it seems. This last year I’ve been struggling to get out as I faced new challenges of self identity. I could feel my wings getting stronger as I attempted to break out of the old habits, relationships, and mental bondage that tried to keep me encased.

As the months went by I could see bits of my beautiful wings pushing through. Obstacles threatened to block my progress and feelings of uncertainty made me want to give up the struggle to be free. For the last few weeks dark clouds seemed to be suspended over me but I knew I had to push through.

This morning I woke up free. I am no longer struggling to get out of the cocoon but I am soaring free like a butterfly.

So today I celebrate my life and the new decade to come. I’ve declared this decade will be the beginning of the best years of my life. I will live with no regrets, make no excuses, have no complaints, and hopefully drag you along with me every step of the way :-) .

My future holds new adventures, new friendships, new love, and new places to explore. Each day I purpose to love deeply and laugh out loud. I have to, because it will keep me young and radiating beauty.

I can say for sure how I will accomplish all these things. My only concern is that I hold these things in my heart and plan for their manifestation into my life.

So I say Happy Birthday to me. The best is yet to come!

To celebrate I’m doing a few giveaways. Check back through the rest of the day to see what I have for you!
