It’s My Birthday, It’s My Birthday! Let’s Celebrate!

Today is a wonderful day! Why? Because it’s my birthday that’s why! I am so thankful and excited to be living another year. The thing about birthdays is that it’s the best time to start over if life is not going so well. It is a time for new beginnings, renewal, and strategic change.

Some people use their birthday to set new goals instead of doing on New Year’s Day. Or they simply reevaluate their goals and make changes on their birthday. It’s kind of hard for me to do that because my birthday is so close to New Year’s Day. There is not much time in between to make an accurate assessment of my life. Seven days is kind of short don’t you think?

So I use the first six days as think time and use my birthday as my goal start date. I also celebrate. It doesn’t matter if anyone has planned anything for me. I used to get upset and in a huff that nobody remembered or did anything special for me. A few years ago I decided that I would treat myself to a great lunch or dinner, do some shopping, get a decadent dessert, or go to the movies. Depending on others to remember was to depressing and I am just to fabulous to not celebrate the day I landed on the is planet, lol!

I have fun on my birthday. It’s a day of rejoicing and thankfulness. There is a song by india.arie called Private Party. That song pretty much sums up how I feel about celebrating my birthday and life. I don’t have to have a crowd to tell me how special I am because I already know it and I celebrate it with abandon.
