Home Money Management My Smart Water Bottle Alternative Savings

My family loves it when I buy water bottles. My daughter especially likes the Smart Water brand. I admit it does taste good and I’ll splurge occasionally, but it gets to be more than I want to pay for something that is typically free!

I decided I didn’t want to keep paying for water and contributing to more land field waste. You do know water bottles and other plastics take years to break down don’t you? Well I learned recently that it takes decades! To stop this insanity I decided to buy a Brita water pitcher. I bought the slim version because my fridge fills up kind of quickly but I want room for this container.

The pitcher comes with a filter and a filter indicator sticker that lets you know when to change the filter. It lasts about three months and comes with set up instructions which are easy to understand.

I could have bought a water filter but I didn’t want to fool around with putting it on the faucet plus I’m renting so I didn’t want to have to think about taking it back off and finding the original faucet parts. Yeah it’s probably simple but that’s one more thing I have to think about. Not interested and trying to keep things simple.

I like using the pitcher. The water tastes good and I can use the money I’d use on buying water bottles on something else. I have a few left over Smart Water bottles so I’ll fill those up for my daughter. Think she’ll notice the difference? ;-)
