This is a great idea, however, a lot of farmer’s markets require certification for your kitchen (which won’t get certified if you have pets and the kitchen is open/doesn’t have a separate door), also a special certification for canning (as opposed to making pies or breads), a food handler’s card, and of course, funds for reserving the space that you’ll be renting. So, this really isn’t a side job.
On the other hand, if you want to sell via craigslist, then you could probably get away without having to get any of these things. Of course, if something goes terribly wrong and someone gets food poisoning, you’ll have very little to protect you if they sue.
