Single Mom Voices: The Challenges Single Moms Face and Overcome

Being a single working mother is sometimes just very difficult. There are some fun times, but mostly, it’s difficult, because I face a whole lot of issues by myself.
I mean, her dad is still around (remarried, but available if needed). Behavior problems, growth issues, life questions, breaking home rules, all these things are issues that I’d like to have another adult around to talk things out with.
And since I’m not able to be around her all the time, there’s things on TV that she might watch, things on the computer that she might be looking up that I can’t catch, and songs on the radio that she might mimic.
I’m sure that I couldn’t monitor her 24/7 anyway, but being at work while she’s home from school leaves a lot of time for her little mind to be consumed with things I normally wouldn’t allow.
So, what can I do to counteract the bad influences she’s sure to get through the mainstream media, or influences I might inadvertently put on her myself?
Well, I pray to God nightly, daily, unfailingly, and without ceasing that through it all, in there somewhere, He helps me to instill the values that, even in my absence, would press into the forefront of her mind and encourage her to do what she knows would be right.
It’s not easy being a single mother, but it is doable as long as we both stay grounded in the One who can never lead us wrong.
