Home Single Motherhood How Single Moms Can Cope During Christmas

It’s only a few days before Christmas and though my home has been trimmed and the Christmas presents brought, I can’t help but think about all the other single moms out there who may be going through a difficult time during this Christmas season.

This may be one of the most difficult times of the year for you. This is the time of year that loneliness becomes more apparent. Even if you have children, it can be difficult to get through this time. I am fortunate to have family and friends that I can spend time with and hopefully you have the same thing too. But if you don’t here are a few tips to make the season brighter.

  1. Create new memories and traditions with your child or children (telling stories, making ornaments, etc).
  2. Take lots of pictures in your home and on location with the decorations.
  3. Bake lots of goodies even if it’s store-bought pre-mixed cookie or cake
  4. Visit a nursing home or hospital and give handmade crafted gifts.
  5. Feed the homeless or the old lady that lives down the hall or a few houses down
  6. Go to a community Christmas program.

These are just a few things you can do to make your season bright and to lessen the feeling of loneliness. What you make of this season is completely up to you. So I hope you’ll take these tips and use them and then see how different this holiday can be for you.

I’ve included a quick video of a recipe, I think it’s very yummy. I want to try it for myself because I am a complete pecan freak. So take a look and let me know if you decide to bake yourself. Happy holidays!
