Home Single Motherhood I Got an Early Christmas Gift!

If I believed in Santa I’d say he brought me an early Christmas gift this year. But I know this was totally a gift from God! I finally got something that I’ve been working and praying for since my daughter was born. Wow! It’s been 14 years since I’ve wanted to do this thing and now I get to do it. “What is it already!” is what you are probably saying.

It’s what I’ve been researching, trying out for size, letting go, and now finally able to do. My early Christmas gift is that….

I am a now a FULLTIME Work at Home MOM!!!!!!!

I am so excited about it. It practically fell into my lap, was a stroke of luck (…okay not really), and is absolutely the best thing that’s happened to me this year (among other things I’ll share with you later).

I am able to stay home and work as well as get some long neglected household projects done, like catching up on laundry, cleaning out my fridge, and putting away a tower of clean clothes. Of course I have to pace myself so I don’t get overwhelmed.

So how did I come to have such a gift? It was timing, patience, and positioning. The timing was simply right. I let go of being anxious about working from home. The job I was in was losing its luster and excitement so I was ready to move on. But I knew I couldn’t move on until I was grateful for the opportunities I had through that job. I knew I could not move on until I had another job lined up. I knew I could not leave the job on bad terms either. I didn’t want to do that because burning bridges is never a good idea (incidentally I’m still working for my old company as a consultant! Woohoo!).

So patience became my badge of honor. I’m not the most patient person in the world, but this is something I knew I must develop patience for. So I waited and I asked God when I could leave. It was when I asked that question that things began to happen. My activity to find other work began to materialize. It was time, not my time, but God’s time.

Positioning was a major factor in getting this gift. For months I had been tweaking my resume and posting it on job sites. I got calls, a few interviews, and was even hired to work on a contract with the local government pending contact acceptance. It all fell through, but I was not discouraged. I knew the right opportunity would come along. I just had no idea it would be this good!

While I was putting my resumes out, I was also positing ads on Craigslist.org to do freelance work. I got a couple gigs from it but not enough to replace my old job. I was not consistently posting either, but a few weeks before my gift came I posted an ad and let it go.

One day, on a Monday in fact, I got an email from my now new boss describing a position, the pay rate and aid it was would be a remote position. He wanted to know if I was interested. I replied that I was interested and asked for more details. The rest was a whirlwind of activity that could not have been orchestrated by anyone but God!

Now I am officially a WAHM and I’m grateful for the blessing this is and will be for my family.

Now that I am a WAHM I will be focusing more on my son’s education and possibly writing more, shooting videos for you guys, and doing life coaching part time. I may have the opportunity to get out into my community more to do motivational talks. Again, I’ll pace myself and be open to the right opportunities.

If you have wanted to work from home or do anything else you have dreamed of, I encourage you to never give up, never quit. Because the moment you quit could be the moment that door opens for you.

As you can see success is not necessarily an overnight thing. It take time, preparation, but most of all a clear idea and definite direction and purpose. You can do it though and I’m willing to offer any advice if you want it. You just have to ask the question and know where to look for the answer. I can be some help in that area.

Are you ready? Got dreams? Don’t know where to begin? Let’s work on this together.
