[Video/Review] Marry Me a Lifetime Mini-Series Rocks!
Earlier this week I had the opportunity to preview the new Lifetime Movies mini-series, Marry Me, starring Lucy Liu. I’m a sucker for romance so when I heard about this opportunity I jumped on it. Lucy’s character is Rae Ann Carter, a social worker, with a dilemma. She has three men who are trying to win her heart and have asked her to marry them. Wouldn’t we all want that kind of dilemma?
I won’t give away the entire story but I believe you will like it. I will mention that Rae does take on a single mom role when she agrees to become guardian to a young lady in the State’s foster care system. So this was an intriguing twist that was interesting to watch. She basically feels ill equipped to be a mother and does everything wrong, but she loves and bonds with this child.
Much of the movie is shot in Atlanta, GA, my home town. Rae and her family are from Atlanta so it’s only natural for it to be filmed here. I was excited to see Piedmont Park, the Atlanta skyline, the High Museum of Art, and numerous other hot spots in the film. I admit I love my city and my heart swells with pride when I drive through it or see it on the screen.
If you were ever a fan of Designing Women, also set in Atlanta, you will be happy to see Annie Potts features as Rae’s mother. She has the same wit and charm and delivers the kind of motherly advice we all sometimes need. You have to watch to see what she says.
Marry Me comes on Lifetime TV Sunday, December 12, 2010. Here is more information and the trailer about the mini-series.
