If you’re a freelance writer or editor, you can work part-time and make money. As a freelance writer, you can create content for websites, compose written material like business reports, direct marketing pieces, and featured articles.
A freelance editor also proofreads writing, corrects grammar, and modifies the copy, enhancing readability. The best thing about taking these jobs is that, in many instances, the work can get done during the weekends.
Freelance writers can earn upwards of $1 a word and more if they have specialized education (I.e., RN’s, MDs, Lawyers, etc.). Moreover, editors can earn upwards of $45/hr. However, one’s earning potential depends on the skills, deadline, and the type of work you do.
Most businesses want to represent their products and services they offer to the public via the internet. Web designers create web pages by creating and publishing content. And, they incorporate video and graphics into websites.
Getting hired as a web designer requires a knowledge of web authoring tools, writing, and other technical skills. Some freelance designers will partner with graphic designers and writers to complete their projects.
As a part-time web designer, most of the jobs can get completed over the weekend. Lastly, web designers can regularly expect to make upwards of $35 per hour.
Graphic designers play crucial roles in creating visual aspects of brochures, web pages, logos, advertisements, packaging, presentations, and reports. Also, Graphic designers translate client ideas into visual design. Designers need to possess aesthetic sensibility, creative abilities, and expertise to work with desktop design programs.

Amazon and eBay sellers can make thousands a year, while some even over ten million dollars in a year. However, as is the norm, the more you work, the more you make. And don’t forget there are season peaks for online sales that correspond to the holiday shopping season.
8. Wedding Photographer/Videographer
Those with good camera skills and a flair for editing photographs (and videos) have an excellent opportunity to expand their reach. As weddings tend to take place during the weekend, wedding photographers/videographers can work part-time, while honing their skills.

5. Healthcare Workers
Since the outbreak of COVID-19 coronavirus, health care workers are in big demand. For example, there is a tremendous demand for nurses, especially per diem nurses. These nurses are needed to work on the weekend to supplement regular staff.
Registered nurses follow treatment plans, treat wounds, administer medications and monitor patients’ health status.
For the DIY crowd with ninja-like repair skills, handy people (man/woman) can earn some good money. Since many people lack time to learn simple repair skills, handy people can fill this need, part-time and on the weekends. A handy person might get tasked with installing a light fixture, minor carpentry, repairing drywall, light plumbing work, or painting.
The best handy people can charge upwards of $50/hr. However, they’d get best advised always to try and please the customer as best as possible. This way, they’ll stay busy with referrals.
3. Customer Service Representative
Customer service representatives (CSRs) communicate with customers online or by phone to answer their questions and solve problems. CSRs also educate consumers regarding the effective use of their clients’ products or services. For instance, technical support workers solve software, computer, or hardware-related problems.
Before taking this weekend job, CSRs should be patient and possess strong listening abilities, problem-solving skills, and verbal communication.
Considering CSR’s can usually work from home, they can often perform these jobs on a part-time basis and on the weekends.
2. Retail Sales Rep.
The weekend is the time that people shop when they are off work. As a result, stores in various sectors will hire part-time people, on the weekend. Retail sales reps require strong customer service skills, and attention to detail will go a long way.
Additionally, as more shoppers enter the store, the more the products get sold. As a result, there’s also a demand for people to restock the shelves.
Retail sales reps earn about $12+ an hour. Statistics also show that in a typical (non-pandemic) year, there are nearly 10 million retail jobs, which means it’s an excellent opportunity to earn an income.

They reach for the phone, open up the Uber Eats or Door Dash app, and order a hot meal for delivery. They are probably in your neighborhood or city which makes it super easy to deliver their food and make extra money a night.
If you can go to a restaurant, pick up food, and find an address with a GPS app you can be an Uber Eats delivery driver.
You can use your car and it doesn’t matter what year, make, or model it is; unlike what the Ride Share programs require.
The great thing about the Uber Eats program is you can take your kids with you so no looking for a babysitter to pay all the money you just made. Deliver with UberEATS and earn on your own schedule.
2. Sell Your old diamond wedding rings
This way to make extra money during the holidays is both cleansing and practical. This is the perfect time to let go of the diamond engagement ring you have been holding on to for so long after your breakup.
The holidays can be hard especially after a fresh divorce. It’s even harder years down the road if you get depressed every year around this time. Selling your diamond ring is empowering and releases you to get on with your life.

You must have a newer model car and insurance so if you meet the criteria you should sign up. The approval time varies from city to city but it might be worth your while.
You will be able to drive any time you want during and after the holidays so this is a legitimate side hustle for making extra money as a single mom.
The holiday parties are in full swing. Why not make some extra cash as a holiday helper? Private homes, caterers, and hotels hire extra help for the pre-and post-holiday party chores.
Check out the Task Rabbit app or Craigslist for gigs in your area. You can also place your own ad on Craigslist or other free local papers offering your services.
5. Create and Sell merchandise on Gear Bubble, Sun Frog, or Spreadshirt
If you are a graphic designer or simply have a sarcastic (or funny) wit you can design and sell T-shirts, mugs, and other merchandise online. This is one of my favorite ways to make money.
Head over to Gear Bubble, Sun Frog, or Spreadshirt, create an account, then follow the steps to create your designs. You can decide how much you will sell them for and then add them to the marketplace.
When your shirt sells you get paid. If people use your design you get paid. It’s a win-win for everyone.
6. Babysitting during holiday parties
Place an ad on Craigslist or create a flyer to post in your local grocery store or bakery.
People are going to company parties and New Year’s Eve parties so they need a reliable childcare service that is available at night. Since you are a mom you are the answer to their prayers.
Check out the Care.com website. You can add yourself to the site as a provider and when you include that you do holiday childcare in your profile you could get more opportunities.
Are you a fantastic gift wrapper? Use your skills to wrap holiday gifts and get paid.
Get gigs at the mall or contract yourself out to bookstores, grocery stores, or corporate offices a few days a week.
Busy executives need their gifts wrapped so they don’t look like a complete failure on Christmas morning.
Place an ad, call friends, or visit places of business to offer your service. You will need a counter or table to work from, sharp scissors, tape, and a selection of wrapping paper, ribbon and bows.
8. Baked goods sales
The smell of baked cookies, cakes, and pies is what makes the holidays special.
If you have a gift for baking you can clean up during the holidays. Package your goods and sell them to family, friends, and co-workers who want last-minute gifts.
You can bake from scratch or from a mix but just don’t buy ready-made baked goods and pass them off as your own.
Put the baked items in pretty paper, cellophane, and tins then top it with a bow.
Sell it at a higher rate than store-bought goods because of the labor and supplies you used to make those yummy treats.
9. Gift Basket sells
If you have a talent for pulling together themed gift items the gift basket business is calling your name.
You can make money creating and selling gift baskets of baked goods, spa treatments, movie night, and other themes baskets for people who don’t know what to get their loved ones.
Create a sample basket of at least three themes then photograph them. Post your pictures in the Facebook swap and sell groups along with a description and price for the baskets. You can also repeat it on your page or in local business groups on Facebook and Instagram.
If you are feeling adventurous go to car dealerships and other businesses that have salespeople or caregivers standing around. They will buy from you because it’s one less thing they have to do at the last minute.
10. Donate goods for a tax break
This is not exactly a make extra money idea for the holidays but it is a get more money at tax time idea.
There is still time to donate clothes, furniture, and kids items to your local charity to get a tax credit. But If you are like me you procrastinate and mess around and don’t get your stuff to the donation center in time.

Recently a client asked if I had any quick and easy ways to make extra money? She was interested in putting some into savings and paying off some debt, too. There are many ways to make extra cash even when you are working full time. One of the best ways to make more money in your spare time is to do something you love and to find someone who will pay you for it. Here are a few.
Collectors, computer savvy individuals, and the natural salesmen can all make a few bucks by setting up an eBay account and selling all the items they have stored around the house. If it’s boxed up and covered with dust then you aren’t using it. Why not send it to someone who will truly appreciate it, and you can appreciate the cash in its place.
Almost every weekend, somewhere in the United States, some city or town is holding a fair or festival that offers booth spaces for crafters. Get your hobby to work for you by attending some the festivals and selling the items that you have been giving away as gifts. It might help to visit a few first to get a feel for the different crafting trends and the best locations for your booth space.
If you’re an artist, you could do caricatures or paint murals in children’s room or beautify buildings. My daughter does pencil drawings from a photograph and they make lovely gifts
Digging in the dirt is not for everyone, but almost everyone loves having a beautiful yard. If you have a green thumb, then why not offer to share that with others. It might be surprising how many people will take you up on the offer. It will probably be downright shocking how much they are willing to pay for the service. I know I’d love to have some help in this area!
If you don’t want to labor away in other people’s yards, then why not sell the fruits of your labor from your own yard. Pot up some of the multiplications your plants have grown and sell them at the local flea market. Find a local farmers’ market to sell excess fruits, vegetables or flowers.
Take seasonal or temporary work – as long as it doesn’t interfere with your full-time job and you still have some time to yourself. A part-time job can be the perfect way to make that extra income you need for a special goal.

Get an “alcohol pouring license” or “food handler card” so you can tend bar, work at catering events, festivals and wine tastings. Check with your state liquor control commission or public health department for requirements and training.
Be a coach, umpire or tutor or give music lessons if you have skills in this area. Contact local schools and colleges, athletic leagues and community education programs. Musicians can offer their services for weddings, parties and funerals.

A few months ago I talked about way to make money if you are broke. One of the things I mentioned was participating in focus groups and surveys.
