Now this is an interesting story I read on CNN.com about ways to make money. Remember the change jar side hustle? Well I’m not the only one with this idea. In New York one family has made it a family affair. They pick up any coins they find on the streets, even in the snow. Now that’s dedication!
Even though the whole collecting change idea is not new, it is gaining popularity these days. Found money can come from many sources and its fun to see how much you can collect. I’ve been doing this for a long time now. I have change all over the place in my house.
In a way it reminds me of the abundance in my life. I am never really without money and I don’t have to be afraid that it will completely disappear from my life. Changing (no pun intended) my thoughts about money in little ways allows more of it to flow into my life.
Reminding myself that there is enough and that there will be more keeps me sane. Now don’t get me wrong, I am not obsessed with money. I recognize that it is a tool for my use to get the things that I need and some of the things that I want. Having this tool available as a single mom improves my quality of life and reduces the stress surrounding being the sole provider.
So if you haven’t been saving all your change or picking up pennies, then get started. The savings may be slow but it adds up over time. With a goal in mind the process of saving your pennies (or any coins) becomes a game. Call it your rainy day fund, your vacation fund, or your college fund for the little ones. Everyone can get involved and it’s a lot easier than trying to force yourself to save dollars when it seems like the bills just won’t stop.
Happy savings!

I totally agree. If I haven’t saved, what would have happened with my baby, especially during the time when I lost my job…
Jessica savings is so important. I’m glad you have been saving and that it was available during a crisis.
Collecting change is growing in many big cities. I once saw a guy in a suit running around the mall collecting change. the weird thing about this, The next day when I went to get a loan, he was the one giving it to me. So it is people from higher classes and lower classes doing the same thing.
